Pieter Vorenkamp

Pieter Vorenkamp is the vice president and chief architect for central engineering at Broadcom Corporation, where his responsibilities include the technical leadership and customer relations for analog mixed signal and RF development, library technology development (standard cell, memories and IOs) and EDA tools.

Since joining Broadcom in 1997, Pieter has held progressively senior engineering management positions. In his present role, Pieter drives core technology development and design methodologies, predominantly focusing on nanometer CMOS technologies. Prior to joining Broadcom, Pieter was involved in research and development of high-speed, high-resolution data converters for video and instrumentation applications at Philips Research and Philips Semiconductors in the Netherlands and France, respectively. Pieter, who received his Master’s degree from Twente University in the Netherlands, is the author of many international publications and a named author of over thirty US patents.

Richard Hegberg

Richard Hegberg is the senior vice president, worldwide sales and marketing of Atheros Communications, Inc.

Rick’s twenty-five-plus years of executive leadership also include, prior to his position at Atheros, the role of senior vice president of worldwide sales and marketing, and general manager of the wireless business unit at Numonyx (recently acquired by Micron Technology), one of the world's largest makers of flash memory. Prior to Numonyx, Rick led worldwide sales and marketing for ATI Technologies, where sales more than doubled under his leadership. After ATI was acquired by AMD, he was vice president for the combined company's worldwide sales and business operations. In addition to executive-level sales positions at Lucent Microelectronics, Trident Microelectronics, and VLSI Technology, Rick also served as president and CEO of NetOctave, where he grew the network security IC start-up into a global organization that was subsequently acquired. Rick holds a BSEE from Marquette University.

Ken-Ya Hashimoto

Dr. Ken-ya Hashimoto joined Chiba University as a research associate, and is now a professor of the University.

Since then, he has served as a visiting professor at the Helsinki (Finland) University of Technology, a visiting scientist of the Laboratoire de Physique et Metrologie des Oscillateurs (France), and a visiting professor at the Johannes Kepler University of Linz (Austria). Dr. Hashimoto has authored or co-authored more than 200 papers in refereed journals and conference proceedings, and contributed to ten books. His current research interests include various types of surface and bulk acoustic wave devices, acoustic wave sensors and actuators, piezoelectric thin films, application of thin-film and micro-machining technologies to the acoustic wave devices and RF circuit design. A Fellow of the IEEE and a Member of the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers, the Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan, and the Acoustical Society of Japan, Dr. Hashimoto received his BS and MS degrees in electrical engineering from Chiba University, Japan, and EngD from Tokyo Institute of Technology.

Mike O’Neill

Mike O'Neill is a senior business executive with more than twenty years of experience in the semiconductor industry and extensive experience in P&L management, corporate and product strategy, business development and venture finance.

He was vice president of military/aerospace and communications products with ON Semiconductor, and ran the digital and communications business units at AMI Semiconductor. As a general partner with Kodiak Venture Partners, he focused on early stage investments in the semiconductor & communications markets. Mike was part of the leadership team at early-stage startup Philsar Semiconductor and saw the company through its acquisition by Conexant Systems. He began his career at IBM, and received both his BSEE and MSEE from Virginia Tech.
